October 2 Closing Worship at Zion’s UCC
PNEC Members and Congregations
Zion’s UCC, the Liberty Bell Church, will celebrate its final service of worship with a celebration of Holy Communion on Sunday, October 2, 10:45 am.
Zion’s has a rich history, dating back to 1768, as one of earliest German Reformed congregations in the Lehigh Valley. Zion’s has been an integral part of the Reformed and United Church of Christ history in the Lehigh Valley.
Due to declining membership and increasing expenses, along with the challenges of the recent COVID pandemic, members of the congregation were no longer able to meet expenses, and in July voted to sell the building to Resurrected Life Community Church of the United Church of Christ.
The Zion’s congregation is inviting all area UCC churches to send representatives and/or delegations to be a part of a closing worship on October 2 at 10:45 am. This is a historic moment in the life of the United Church of Christ in the Lehigh Valley. You and the members of your congregation are invited to be a part of this celebration. The Apostle Paul has written:
“We are all members of the body of Christ… if one member suffers, all suffer with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it… Now we are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” I Corinthians 12:26-27
As members of the body of the UCC, lets support the folks at Zion’s and participate in the celebration of their life and ministry on October 2 @ 10:45 am. (Parking available in the lot at 7th and Walnut Streets)
