Annual Meeting
February 2009
Greetings:
This letter invites you to two great events in the life of our Conference.
The Annual Meeting of the Penn Northeast Conference Surviving or Thriving…Next Steps Saturday, April 24, 2010, starts at 8:45 a.m. (registration at 8 a.m.; coffee/tea/juice will be provided) at the Northampton Community Center 1601 Laubach Avenue, Northampton, PA
and occurring the evening before there will be
A Banquet for Authorized Ministers Friday Evening, April 23, 2010, starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Northampton Community Center
At both gatherings, we will hear from Gil Rendle, of the Alban Institute, on how to move your church to a more creative and faithful discipleship in the future. This will be a continuation of the theme from our October meeting.
At the Annual Meeting, we will also be holding elections, passing the budget for 2011, and approving changes to the Constitution and Bylaws of the Conference. Every church is urged to send their pastor and several lay delegates to this informative meeting. The cost is a very affordable $25 per person. We strongly encourage those who attended the October meeting to be with us in Northampton as we look at the possibility for the next steps for our churches.
The deadline for registration is April 9. Please complete one registration form for each person attending from your church.
The Banquet for Authorized Ministers is open to all authorized pastors, their spouses, and all lay leaders who would like to attend. The evening will include a delicious meal followed by a program that will recognize pastors. We will also hear from Gil Rendle as well. For a relaxing evening of good food, fun, and fellowship, we invite you to this event. The cost is only $30 per person.
If you register for both events, the cost will be $50 (a savings of $5).
If you need overnight accommodations, a block of rooms has been reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn near the Allentown Airport and approximately seven miles from the Northampton Community Center. See the registration form for contact information.
As a reminder, PNEC Constitution states: At all Conference Meetings, in addition to its ministers, each local church shall be entitled to be represented by two lay delegates if at least one is a youth/young adult (14-21 years). Furthermore each local church with more than 500 members shall be entitled to be represented by one additional lay delegate for every additional 500 members or major fraction thereof as shown in the National Year Book. Visitors are welcome. The members of the Board of Directors shall be members ex officio of the Conference with vote.
I look forward to seeing you in Northampton on April 23 and 24, 2010.
Sincerely yours,
Cliffert Herring Moderator, Penn Northeast Conference
